Batteries under 1 MW: can they earn revenue on flexibility markets?
“I want to install a battery under 1 MW at my client’s site. Can it earn revenue on flexibility markets?”
Yes. From the flexibility markets’ point of view, what matters is not so much the size of the battery as the size of the aggregate in which it is monetised.
A residential or C&I battery may be too small to access certain mechanisms on its own, but aggregated with other batteries, it can offer flexible capacity that can be monetised on the markets.
At Nexen GridTech, this is exactly what we optimise:
- Local control of the battery, to meet the site’s needs: self-consumption, peak/off-peak arbitrage and other specific constraints.
- Control at aggregate level, to make these batteries compatible with the requirements of flexibility mechanisms.
Contact us to discuss it: together we can look at how compatible the batteries you install are with Nexen GridTech and the technical and economic impact of our control.
